Youth Carmen Sullivan
Carmen C. Sullivan
Youth Ministry Director
Carmen is honored and proud to say that Christ has called her into this position! “Can we get an AMEN?”
Carmen was born and raised in Morro Bay, Ca. where she believes God has been working in her life from day one. She may not have always seen it or known it, but she say’s looking back it’s easy to see He has always been by her side. Thanks to Earla Mae Ford, her childhood neighbor, she was born and raised into a Christian home with Christian parents, which helped to lay a great foundation for her adolescent years.
When she was 16 years old, for no reason at all, she decided to graduate high school a year early and move to Los Angeles, Ca. In Los Angeles she was able to learn a lot of “helpful” and “not so helpful” resources that shaped her into the women she is today. She believes even when she kept her faith at arm’s length God continued to work in her life. When she was 20 years old, for no reason at all, she decided to move back to the central coast. Right around this time in her life Carmen says, “God started working over-time!”
In one year she managed to move back home, start going back to church, find a career (that she happened to be REALLY good at) and meet her “then” boyfriend and “now” husband. Phillip and Carmen became members at FBC of Los Osos in 2013 when the Morro Bay church she was raised in dissolved. Over the three years of being members they’ve volunteered for many events hosted by FBC of Los Osos. Events like San Marcos Children’s Camp, The Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, etc.
On September 28, 2013 Carmen became a wife to Phillip Sullivan and a bonus mom (she doesn’t like to use step-mom) to Daniel Sullivan. On November 15, 2014 Jameson Sullivan was born to Carmen and Phillip in San Luis Obispo, Ca.
During the summer of 2016 God reveled his calling and plan for her life. From May to August a series of events transpired that were life changing for her, Carmen said, “In times like this you can chose to run to God or run away from God.” Thankfully she chose to run to God, where He has called her to a new chapter in her life and to be our churches new Youth Director.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
